Map each swale, slope, inlet, outlet and erosion-control feature; define vegetation goals, approved access, cutting height, clipping handling, wet-ground stop conditions and inspection reporting. Mowing preserves vegetation and visibility but does not certify drainage capacity or repair erosion.
Separate drainage zones from array lanes
Swales may need different height, timing and equipment than level rows. Apply zone-specific acceptance standards.
Protect structures and flow paths
Do not bury inlets, outlets, check structures or riprap in clippings. Mark underdrains and hidden edges before equipment enters.
Avoid saturated routes
Tracks can still rut or slide. Reschedule when soil cannot support controlled travel without unacceptable disturbance.
Preserve stabilizing cover
Scalping and repeated turns can expose soil. Use gradual passes and owner-approved cutting heights.
Report visible changes
Photograph gullies, sediment, standing water or damaged structures for the O&M team. A mowing contractor does not diagnose hydraulic or structural causes.
